What Cris Carter said
Hey Yardbarker... This is T.O. and I want to tell you this myself. People ask me what I thought about what Cris Carter said about me a few days ago. All I know is, if I'd been the one who had said that about him, what would everyone have thought?

My personal opinion on the matter is that Cris Carter was out of line. I sincerely doubt he was condoning actual violence as a way of solving a problem, and I believe he was attempting to stress that he feels this issue needs to be dealt with harshly and without delay. However, it was obviously a poor choice of words (much akin to the Tiger Woods lynching debacle), and he should be held accountable for it. Had T.O. come out and said the same about Carter, I don't believe the repercussions would have been nearly the same. He has made a career out of controversy and isn't held accountable to the same level that Carter is. Analysts are a dime a dozen and Carter can easily be replaced, whereas a receiver of T.O.'s caliber doesn't come along that often. The Cowboys have a long history of harboring controversial players and not holding them accountable for their actions. Why would this situation be any different?

I didn't write this But I thought many of you Cowboys Fans might wanna Think Again about T.O.'s future in Dallas?
Sources: Dallas may release Owens:
Improving locker room chemistry will be the highest priority for the Dallas Cowboys this offseason and that will force serious discussions between Wade Phillips' coaching staff and owner Jerry Jones about whether to release controversial wide receiver Terrell Owens, according to team and league sources.
Owens
"I think we all know that chemistry is the problem with this team more than the schemes or anything else," a Cowboys source said. "Are we going to continue to allow talent to outweigh everything else in the decisions we make with players and putting the roster together? We're like the Redskins used to be when they signed every player they wanted. There's more to it than talent. It has to be more about the team.
"The big one [Owens] didn't get discussed yet, but I'm sure it will and real hard."
The Cowboys released twice-suspended cornerback Pacman Jones last week and Tank Johnson is expected to depart through free agency. Both decisions are at least partly related to the renewed emphasis on creating a different atmosphere in the locker room. The Cowboys began their ill-fated 2008 season with three players on the roster who had been suspended by the league or their previous teams -- Jones, Johnson and Owens.
Mosley: T.O. Gone?
Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens may have worn out his welcome in Big D. Team chemistry might take precedent over salary cap.
At least two sources believe that vice president Stephen Jones will attempt to convince his father that Owens should be finished with the Cowboys. But Jerry Jones just last year invested a $12 million signing bonus in Owens, which means there would be salary-cap fallout. In fact, Jerry Jones has suggested that there might be enough damage that the team would find it difficult to sign NFL sack leader DeMarcus Ware to a new contract.
"I think some of people want to just cut our losses and get rid of all those guys … T.O., Tank, Pacman,'' another Cowboys source said. "But I really think Jerry likes the thrill of trying to make it all work."
The discussions involving Owens have not yet been formally initiated and probably will not occur until the Cowboys are more certain of the composition of their coaching staff.
Offensive coordinator Jason Garrett's candidacy for at least two NFL head-coaching positions could influence the Owens debate. Garrett met with the St. Louis Rams on Wednesday after interviewing last week with the Detroit Lions.
At the moment, Jones has insisted that Phillips will return, but he might have to reconsider if Garrett secures another opportunity. There are people within the Cowboys' organization who do not believe that Garrett would turn down another job unless Jones was willing to promote him to head coach in Dallas and purge Owens from the roster.
Tony Romo hits Terrell Owens for a TD pass to bring the Cowboys within striking distance in the 4th quarter.
Not only does Owens have relationship issues with quarterback Tony Romo and tight end Jason Witten, but the controversial receiver consistently criticized Garrett's play calling and his offensive schemes to the point that sources say the offensive coordinator does not believe they can coexist.
The potential of the Cowboys losing Garrett to another team could accelerate the timetable for a decision about Owens. They had expected not to face a deadline until his $3 million roster bonus is due June 3. But that changes if Garrett finds himself in a position to leave the Cowboys and makes Owens' departure a condition of his remaining.
"I think Jerry would have to think about it, but I believe he'd let Jason leave,'' said one team source, believing Jones would prefer to be relieved of his remaining $6 million obligation to Garrett.
Regardless, Owens could still be jettisoned. His detractors can argue their belief that Owens, 35, is a poor route runner with inconsistent hands and generally a descending player who seldom accepts responsibility for his own shortcomings. There is fear internally that he will become more volatile if his performance continues to deteriorate -- and that he may feel more empowered if he perceives that his presence forced Garrett to depart.
Of particular concern is the apparent negative influence Owens has had on teammates such as Roy Williams and Patrick Crayton and even running back Marion Barber.
"You have to be worried about his influence over there, and I think we'd get some of those players back over to our side if he was gone,'' another source said. "I think we have to decide how detrimental he is to Witten and Romo.''
While the productivity of Garrett's offense plunged and quarterback Romo appeared to regress in his second full season as the starting quarterback, Jerry Jones apparently still covets his young offensive coordinator. The perception within the Cowboys' coaching and executive offices is that the team's demise was more the result of poor locker room chemistry and a serious leadership void than it was a failure of Garrett's system.
It was Jones who personally returned Garrett to the Cowboys' organization with the expectation that he would eventually become the next head coach of the franchise. When Garrett was offered head-coaching positions with the Ravens and Falcons exactly a year ago, Jones persuaded him to remain with the Cowboys by making him the highest-paid assistant coach in football. Jones was fiercely determined to have Garrett develop Romo and maintain offensive continuity, and even mentioned his view of the team's future with Garrett as head coach in the new $1 billion stadium which the team opens next season.

You won't change because you need the drama that surrounds you as much as Jerry Jones needs it! You are a perfect match for one another. Believe me when I tell you he just wants to fill seats and run that soap opera he calls the Dallas Cowboys so he can pay for and make money on his new stadium. This is the NFL guys, and as far as I can remember money spent on talent hasnot worked, you cannot buy a superbowl. Hard work, dedication, and heart is what wins. I'll give you the hardwork and dedication but you have no heart, and even lack a soul!
So yes you will win some games and the drama will continue in Dallas just as you and Jerry like it! Wantproof look at the puppet coach with no spine that he hired, and is going to keep even after you didn't make the playoffs! On paper you all should have won easily but THE PUPPET MASTER JERRY JONES needs to much control. Think of Metallica and how they describe Jerry Jones to a tee "Master of puppets I'm puling your strings twisting your mind and smashing your Dreams
Blinded by me, you can't see a thing
Just call my name, 'cause I'll hear you scream

Basically, people hate U because u stand up for yourself and love yourself. Society hates people that don't tow the line like all the other fools. So, the tribe hates U for it. Happens to special people all the time. Philly was cheap and didn't want to pay you, you handed them their A$$. Good. Enough said. For that, Jerry Jones owes you for blowing up the Eagles. Half their team knows how cheap they are. Now if you can get Brian Dawkins to switch in 2009, you get extra credit.
PEOPLE: Don't take crap in this world. Stand up for yourself.

I don't know if you'll read this far considering how many whiny iggles fans are posting negative remarks but I just wanted to say, as a long time Dallas Cowboys fan, that I appreciate what you bring to the team in terms of desire to win, abilities on the field, and the positive influence you provide on the practice field.
I do wish that you'd make it harder on the mediots by not giving them so much ammo sometimes, even though I know that you feel you are just being honest when you speak your mind.....and I usually do not disagree with what you say, just wish that you'd be a little less forthcoming sometimes considering that we all know that the mediots will do their best to twist your words and take them out of context to make you look bad!
I know that there are MANY of us true DC fans who do not often publicly voice our approval of you, and that the more vocal people are often the few that do not fully appreciate what you give us, but I just wanted you to know that we do not ALL feel the same way that so many vocal detractors do!
There are a lot of us that love us some T.O.! ;-)
As for Carter......I don't know what prompted him to say such a thing, but assuming the reports are true, it was a classless act at best, and could very possibly be construed as a criminal threat at worst!
Keep up the good fight man.....we're rooting hard for you in '09!

Now that you are in Dallas - you see how Jerry rewards players who give it their all for the Cowboys. I hope you and the rest of the 'Boys bring home the Lombardi in '09!!!
And to you Phithy fans - stop your crying and complaining. Maybe if Lurie had ponied up the cash, Terrell Owens would still be an Eagle. But alas, blame management and don't hate.

I've got to be honest with you. I believe it's absolutely wrong to go into an athletes blog and bash him, but TO has created turmoil all around the NFL, not just the Niners, EAGLES and crygirls, all around the league. Maybe if he sees in here what most people think of him he'll start getting the message. He can't act like that and continue to draw positive attention. Acting as TO has in the last 6 or 7 years draws negative attention.

I'm not going to look back through the blog but someone said it best when they said just go out and play the game and let your actions on the field do the talking like your ex-team mate Jerry Rice. If Owens had done that throughout his career than everyone would be admonishing Cris Carter. mAKE NO MISTAKE WHAT CRIC CARTER SAID WAS WRONG AND HE SHOULD BE PUNISHED FOR IT! And you are right if T.O. had said it he would have been punished right away! Carter may still get punished, but T.O. has a past of ridiculous statements and that is what causes the double standard. Everyone deserves a little leniancy about statements and everything else especially when it comes to being hounded by the press and in the spotlight every day. I will never and have never questioned his talent or his work ethic, only his attitude and what he does to the rest of his teams and locker rooms. He is a great talent but he does not use it to propel his team, he uses it for the benefit of hisself and that is where I have the problem. You being in the Army should understand first hand that you never put self in fron of anyone else, and that is what Owens has done his whole career. That is why there are so many writing here on this blog. there are just as many people who dislike T.O. as their are who like him. Think about all the teams he caused problems on in his relatively short career. San Fran, Philadelphia, and now Dallas. Any one of those teams would still have T.O on their team because of his talent and gifts as a player if he could have just learned to be a good locker room person and not only care about himself.

The only way you can prove all the haters wrong is if you stop giving them anything to hate. Become humble. Don't complain. About anything. Even if you know you lost because they didn't direct that one pass at you. Just grin and bare it. And then no one will be able to blame you for being part of the problem. You'll suddenly have a lot more friends and supporters, and maybe, just maybe, without the media and management focusing on disciplining you, they can direct their efforts toward bringing us (and you) a championship here in Dallas. Might take a couple years, but be patient. It will be worth it.

Q.What is the most popular American football team?
A.It changes from year to year usually depending on who wins the Superbowl. But there are some teams who are almost always in the top 5 no matter what. Those teams are Cowboys, Steelers and Raiders. This year 2008, the top three teams in order are
1. Cowboys
2. Giants
3. Steelers

A few free tips:
1. Keep your mouth shut next year and don't say anything negative about any of your teammates or coaches. Just shut up and play. If asked by your coach, speak. Otherwise, just listen. You have influence over people and that is what makes you so dangerous. Can't you see that you have now killed 3 teams. Recover the 3rd and improve your legacy.
2. Work on your routes, avoid drops, and increase your strength to get off the line next year. Before pointing the finger, look at yourself.
3. Stop worrying about your stats. They are plenty good and you will never reach Jerry Rice so just focus on winning and improve your legacy.
4. Never ever throw your QB under the bus. Stand up for him and make him your leader.
Take these steps and your legacy could be improved.

Take the drop issue for instance. His drops piss me off just as much as anyone else, but fact of the matter is that his drop rate is higher because he tends to get the ball more -- that's just how it goes with receivers number 1 on the depth chart. If you look at the chart of drop leaders, all of them are elite receivers on all the teams. There's a myth that T.O. leads the league with drops by miles, but the truth is that he's only ever one or two drops ahead of anyone else. And he doesn't even lead it this year. That award goes to Braylon Edwards, who has twice as many drops as T.O.
This year, T.O. averages one drop per two games. Annoying? Yes. Devastating? Give me a break. One drop every other game? T.O. was good for 10 touchdowns this year. I will take a 10 touchdown/1000 yard receiver for one drop every other game. Last year, T.O. had his worst case of drops. He averaged one drop per game. But he was good for 1400 yards and 15 TD's. That's almost a hundred yards and 1 TD per game. I'll gladly take that if it only costs one drop per game. That's an unbelievable level of performance.
Frankly, this whole drop issue is driven by nothing more than fan ignorance. It's just an excuse to criticize his game when fact remains that he is one of the best receivers in the league and one of the best all time. We all know he has personality problems. He's a man-child who will probably never mature in a lot of ways. But his on-field play is beyond reproach. There's simply no easy way of replacing someone of T.O.'s offensive caliber.
This whole drop issue is also magnified because we constantly hear about T.O. moaning for the ball more. And then people quote that ridiculous statistic about the number of times he's been thrown to. First, let's get two things straight. If anyone has actually ever seen the entirety of T.O.'s news conferences (instead of the 5 second clips), he goes into what he means by "getting him the ball more". Garrett has been using T.O. in short out routes and comebacks when facing cover 2 coverages. He's also not allowing T.O. to get free releases off scrimmage by putting him in motion. Instead, corners (and in case of the terrible Baltimore game, using linebackers) get clean jams on him at the line. T.O. is a guy you need to use on deep posts and crossing routes. You have to give the chance to make yards after catch (which often leads to some of the drops, because his vision is often downfield before he can secure it -- a problem with Patrick Crayton also). That's where he excels, not dinky little shit outs that corners can jump.
Of course, no one really discusses these things because all the ignorant reporters can comprehend is "T.O. wants the ball more". And ignorant reporting creates ignorant fans. What really pisses me off is the whole use of the "thrown to" statistic to criticize T.O. Yes, of course he's been thrown to a lot. He's the number one receiver. When he's asking to be thrown to more, he obviously means that it should actually, you know, reach him. Citing a blank statistic like "number of times thrown to" doesn't reflect how many of those were uncatchable, deflected, or otherwise defended. T.O. can't be held responsible for balls that he doesn't have an opportunity to catch -- whether that be because of Garrett's routes of choice or Romo's delivery.
Next on my hit list of ignorant criticisms regarding Owens: off the field issues. First of all, it's funny how guys like Randy Moss and Terrell Owens are always labeled "thugs" or something crude to analogize them to the likes of Pacman. Pacman gets into all sorts of continuing legal troubles. T.O. doesn't have a single run in with the law. He may have an unlikeable personality, but he has the rap sheet of a choir boy. He and Moss are harmless, and yet because they're often in the sports news for some sort of "drama", they get labeled thugs or hooligans or whatever is popular these days. Owens and Pacman are nothing alike.
Next is the whole "dividing the team/distraction" B.S. Is T.O. a divisive figure? Probably. When you have an outspoken personality, someone is bound to be rubbed the wrong way. But here's the thing. Why exactly if a receiver "divides" a locker room, the person in the "right" is always assumed to be the quarterback or whomever else he's dealing with? This always bugged me, especially back when I was living in the Philadelphia area during the years T.O. was there. You realize that a locker room can only be "divided" if some of the players actually believed that T.O.'s criticisms (on whatever subject) were in fact ... right. That was the case in Philadelphia and that is the case in Dallas. These issues usually crop up when the team is doing poorly, and it is doing poorly because they are playing poorly.
Somehow, ESPN has convinced the whole world that "locker room drama" is the cause for a team's decline. That's another myth they use to make headlines, but it's simply false. Do you honestly think, last year, when Crayton dropped that critical 3rd down conversion in the Giants game, he dropped it because he was distracted by a T.O. locker room rant? Do you think the reason Flozell Adams couldn't block this year was because he had T.O. on his mind? Let's go ahead and blame the injuries to Dallas's offensive guards to carelessness because they were too busy thinking about T.O. Give me a break.
Football failure happens because of football. Not because of some guy mouthing off. Can you imagine making an excuse at work that you screwed up your job because Joe at the water cooler complaining about his salary? It's absurd. Drama and distraction as the be-all-end-all rationale to football performance is the modern sports media's way of turning sports into a soap opera. Somehow, fans got hooked into this stupid line of thinking.
Teams lose because their star receivers mouth off? Are you listening to yourselves? Do you realize how dumb you sound? Fact of the matter is that this whole "drama" rationale only gets applied by the media when it suits them. The Cowboys get blown out by the Eagles, and suddenly it's because of the Cowboys' dysfunctional locker room. Oh yeah? I don't hear or see the McNabb benching drama, or the Reggie Brown get-me-the-ball drama mentioned as blowing the game. Why? Because they won, that's why. Drama is just drama. People only use it as a headline when someone loses. There's no correlation.
Steve Smith doesn't just yell at his teammates, he breaks their noses when he feels like it. I don't hear about how their drama is breaking up the locker room or making them play poorly. Why? Because they're the second seed right now. Michael Irvin gets into fights with his teammates, and reportedly lascerates one with a razor. Yet somehow that "dysfunctional" locker room was good enough for 3 super bowls. Same with Deion Sanders, whom Troy Aikman reportedly loathed. Don't see any problem there either-- they continued winning just fine. And I'm sure the fact that the cold atmosphere between Steve Young and Joe Montana kept Joe from winning a couple more rings—oh wait, it didn't.
Point is that drama isn't the issue. It's just something the media either brings up or doesn't bring up whenever is convenient for them. Is team chemistry important? Of course it is. On the field, at least. Playing chemistry is important. Such as when Roy Williams failed to turn around for the pass that was eventually picked off at the end of the season -- that's poor chemistry, and it has nothing to do with the fact that Roy and Romo don't sleep in the same bed and go out to dinner together every night, best friends forever. And it especially has nothing to do with some other wide receiver who opens his mouth when things go wrong. Would it be nice if everyone got along? Of course. But that's not the reason why teams play poorly.
It's really sad that we allowed the sports media to shape the fan consciousness into a bunch of teenage girls gossiping about frivolous things instead of talking about actual football issues.
And all that leads to T.O. being unfairly scapegoated for a number of things. Take for instance the struggles of the Eagles in past years. In 2005, T.O. gets blamed for ruining the season right after their super bowl appearance. Uh, no. I hate to break it to you ignorant folks, but the reason why Philadelphia struggled is because McNabb got a sports hernia and couldn't play. Their QB for the season was McMahon, a guy who can't even cut it in Canada. Philly also struggled because it benched T.O., who led the team in every receiving category even by the end of the season, despite only playing in seven games. And the ferocious blitzes of 2004 failed in 2005 to produce any pass rush. In 2006, the Philly struggles were due to a linebacking corp that could not stop the run. And they lost the production of their top receiver T.O. (having gone to Dallas). In addition, McNabb hadn't fully recovered from his previous injury, and eventually went down again -- which is why Jeff Garcia became the hero of the city for a while.
Point is that there were actual "football" reasons for why Philadelphia struggled both in T.O.'s final year and thereafter. Not his mouth. Not his drama. Actual "football" reasons. You still all know we're talking about football right? And yet he gets blamed for "destroying" teams. It's frankly unbelievable that people can continue spouting such nonsensical B.S. It's like quoting voodoo as a source of authority.
Look, I get annoyed with T.O. as much as the next guy. He often has a terrible personality. As a man, you could easily point out faults. But as a football player, he's an asset that very few in this league could replace. He works hard, produces, and stays out of trouble. Having a receiver like that mouth off is nothing when compared to what he adds to a football team. Fact is that no team he has left has been able to replace his production, and declined tremendously in their offensive effectiveness. It's simply insane to remove a receiver of his caliber from a team. And it's simply unfair to blame a team's failures on him.

However, I think what Cris Carter said is far worse than anything TO has ever done or said, even though most of the things TO says and does are quite lame, some (not many) are even funny enough to make me laugh, and I am no big TO fan, but he is still a part of my team. I have also seen him make some really fantastic plays and catches, I just wish he would do it more consistently!!!
LETS PUT THINGS IN PERSPECTIVE HERE... NOTHING TO has ever said or done has ever referenced any type of VIOLENCE!!! CRIS CARTER's COMMENT DID and I FEEL A COMMENT LIKE THAT WAS TOTALLY UNCALLED FOR, OUT OF LINE, UNPROFESSIONAL, AND DOES NOT BELONG COMING OUT OF A SPORTSCASTERS MOUTH!!! I FEEL CARTER OWES A PERSONAL APOLOGY to TO and A PUBLIC APOLOGY DURING HIS NEXT BROADCAST!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for Carter's remarks, Owens is right to point out there'd be a double standard if he were the one to speak those words. That said, no one should be knocking Carter for making an otherwise benign remark. We all know what he means--he feels T.O. should be kicked out.
The problem with Carter's remark isn't that it's in any way offensive, morally reprehensible, or simply not politically correct. It's that the remark is a little unconvincing and a lot hypocritical, coming from a former receiver who was also booted (ironically) from the Eagles, for his abuse of controlled substances.

While you thought you were getting the last laugh, you have had absolutely no success in Dallas. Not only that, they have brought in a younger threat at receiver by the name of Roy Williams. He is going to take your job T.O., I hope you know and understand that. You are not getting younger, you are dropping more passes, and you are not the dominant receiver that you once were.
While we may never know the true story on what happened here in Philly....the fact is you completely turned your back on us. Bit the hand that fed you. Not too long ago, you made mention in your press conference that Philly fans would love to have you back in Philly. You are DEAD wrong, I would lose faith in my franchise if they ever showed the least bit of interest in a cancer such as yourself. You had a good home, and you threw it away. The only time I want to see or hear of you in Philly, is the one time a year the Cowboys come to town. You are a disgrace.
IamCulross said January 11, 2009
I would like to do what few others have done. What would I have thought if YOU would have said those things about Carter:
1. I would have first wondered why you were wasting your time on a guy who cares about raitings and his job, not objectively reporting the sport.
2. Then, I would have realized the excellent point you are making, and that you actually are NOT asking a question at all.
I have to tell you....I couldn't stand you since the day you stood on THE STAR. You came here, and I swore I would never support you. Then I began reading about you and feel I came to understand the person behind the player and what makes the player tick. My mother passed away from Alzheimer's btw.
You do NOT have a bigger fan and supporter than you do in me.
The grit, pride, determination, athleticism, and sheer love you play with is a tribute to the game. It was insane how reporters hovered around you like vultures waiting to bait you into answering a question in a way they could construe into something it wasn't. You approached the season and your interviews methodically honest and calm - with much maturity. Congratulations. What kind of receiver would be asked if they thought they should get the ball more, and answer 'Ummm, nah, give it to some other guys...I'm cool with that!'
So, my point? I am proud to say I joined Yardbarker just to comment on your blog. It will be a dark day when you leave or retire from the Cowboys. I am proud to call myself a Cowboys fan (well, always have been) and proud to scream louder than Ms. Wilson at the TV every weekend during football season. When we lose, I cry (it's partly being a girl thing). Passion for the game shows dedication and love. I hope your love for the game and how much fun you have never diminishes because of the idiots in the media.
It is important to me that you know there is at least one fan out there that stands behind you 100%. I am sure there are thousands more. Thank you for what you bring to the game and to Dallas. And you are great entertainment too - wink wink.
All you out there that need to comment and tear this apart to feel better about yourselves - go for it. I've got my opinion, and you can certainly have yours...I don't believe anything you say about T.O anymore than you may want to belive what I say, and could certainly care less about your ranting anyway. I'm here to comment to T.O.

You would know that a successful franchise starts with a football intelligent owner. You go on to talk about eagles coaches. Look at the eagles owners. That is were the success starts. Leonard Toes was an excessive gambler and alcoholic. Jeffrey Lurie is open minded and trusts Andy Reid to run a successful football team. Were has Dallas been these past 12 years????? (silence) Oh i forgot not the playoffs. As i sit here and watch the eagles in footballs week 19 you are sitting at your computer sulking.
And PukeyDmac your a joke and you know nothing about football. Keep it up with your cheesy one-liners and knee slappers because in all reality your cowboys are the epitome of the nfl. Mcnabb is one times better than Romo will ever be. Statistics show it. Mcnabb has so much less talent to work with and is better by alot.
Fjolsvinnr replied January 12, 2009
That aside, Owens is without a doubt self-centered. No one here denies it. But that's got nothing to do with his greatness as a receiver. He's a guy who does his job and does it well. There's nothing threatening about him to a team. Those who claim otherwise are just scapegoating him for their football failures.

1) On Cris Carter: I am surprised no one has brought up Buddy Ryan's famous Cris Carter quote: "All he does is catch touchdowns." Cris Carter left the Philly Doghouse amidst a slew of drug problems, but had a successful career with the Vikings. However, this ignorant comment about T.O. will forever tarnish his reputation. He probably should be fired. With the rampant gun control issues facing the NFL (Plax, Darrent Williams, etc.) a threat like this should not be taken lightly. No matter what you think about T.O., the fault here lies on Carter. It is a completely irresponsible thing to suggest.
2) No amount of character assassination pity will ever make me see Terrel Owens in a different light. He is the most arrogant, selfish, and ignorant football player currently in the game. Yes, he has big league talent; but he has bush league commitment - committment to his teammates, the game itself, and being a role model. He thinks about himself, his marketability, his image, and how he can make an extra buck. THATS IT! This is why it was so ironic last season when he was weeping for Tony Romo - never have I seen heavier Crocodile Tears, from a so-called professional athlete!!
3) T.O. deserves the attack given his own history of character assassination and throwing his teammates under the bus. He has now diseased the core of 3 professional football teams. His personal attacks on Jeff Garcia (did he call him a fag?), McNabb (Superbowl exhaustion), the drama with Romo and Witten, not to mention the outstanding members of the coaching staffs he had been publicly shown during games taunting, whining and complaining to - what goes around comes around.
This attack, albeit ignorant in its own right, coming from a former problem-riddled, phoenix-rising-from-the-ashes Wide Receiver - who knows your job and your plight - publicly disgracing you should be a wake-up call. We are tired of you, T.O., we are tired.

I think you are handling the Chris Carter comments with class. Good job. I am a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan from RI and I think you and some other players on the team need an attitude adjustment. I know that I can only see things from the outside and hear things through the press so I probably only know a small portion of the situation. What is quite obvious from the outside is that the cowboys were not a team. It seemed like they were divided into cliques like a high school or something. The players need to hold themselves accountable first. Everyone needs to worry about doing there own job to the best of there ability first and let the coaches worry about playing time, carries, or balls thrown their way. I know from all accounts you bring 100% effort in every practice and every game however to my untrained eye there were several routes that you gave up on this year for whatever reason. The interception in the beginning of the Pittsburgh game is a prime example. It seemed that you just stopped. At the very least you may have been able to knock the pass down to save the interception. I am sure it is frustrating if Romo isn't looking your way all the time but part of your value is drawing coverages towards you so other people can make plays. I just hope that a veteran player on this team and step up and take charge of the locker room and hold everyone responsible for their actions. THE COWBOYS NEED A LEADER. I HOPE IT IS YOU!!!

My point is this next year don't be so open to a hostile media. The hard knocks thing was a mistake. Every since that show the team was in trouble. I say this after the results of this season. The show only reveals to your opposiion too much of the team playbook. Even to the media as who they can get to rat out the playbook and what's going on behind the scenes. You may think your plays are protected but the results show otherwise. HBO had exspoed all of Tony Romo's bad habits and the offensive line's bad habits for that matter. Not until the team addressed the issue seriously did you reach some success, then later Tony and the rest reverted back to those same bad habits and the opposing team pick up on it. Seems you'd learned your lesson in the Ravens game but guess not.
So this in closing check your decision to let in the media who's job it is to bring down the mighty. Bulid them up then tear em down philosophy. Chris Carter, Ed Werder are just doing the job they were hired to do. So do the job you were hired to do help the team win by catching touch downs and keeping the team together. Most importantly fix the division by setting the example with the coaches whoever they may be. Hoping for better success next time.
Go Blue and Silver

With regard to what the public would have thought had Terrell Owens made the same comments, I am certain that it would have been a witch hunt with ESPN and Cris Carter serving as judge, jury, and executioner. Importantly, Terrell did not and would not make the same or similar comments. It is beneath him. Moreover, something tells me that Carter's comments were of no personal consequence to Terrell. Cris Carter struggles with expressing his thoughts and staying relevant in sports. Terrell Owens remains an incredibly intelligent and well spoken man. While others may perceive that he is too outspoken, everyone must agree that Terrell's comments are always within the bounds of decency and the game. His fans and general sport intellects will always appreciate his talent, drive, and ambition.
