Seattle Seahawks Showing Interest In Two Offensive Additions
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Seattle Seahawks’ general manager, John Schneider, recently disclosed to ESPN radio that the team plans to host a couple of veteran free agent offensive linemen for visits.

While initially keeping the identities undisclosed, recent reports have shed light on the Seahawks’ interest in two prominent linemen.

As per Jeremy Fowler’s insights on ESPN , Seattle has expressed interest in Laken Tomlinson and deliberated on inviting Cody Whitehair for a visit.

Laken Tomlinson, standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 323 pounds, entered the NFL scene as a first-round pick by the Lions during the 2015 draft. Following stints with the Lions, 49ers, and Jets, Tomlinson boasts an impressive resume of 146 games played, with 138 starts to his credit.

Notably, he has exclusively played at the left guard position, aligning with Seattle’s pressing roster requirement.

On the other hand, Cody Whitehair, measuring 6-foot-3 and weighing 316 pounds, was drafted by the Bears in the second round of the subsequent year’s draft. Spending the past eight seasons with the Bears, Whitehair has showcased versatility by adeptly transitioning between center and left guard roles.

Signing either Tomlinson or Whitehair would address a significant concern looming over the Seattle Seahawks as they approach the draft. However, the team’s current financial situation poses a challenge, with approximately $2 million remaining in salary cap space for the 2024 season – a figure that does not account for the expenses associated with signing their incoming rookie class.
