Tom Brady responds after his soccer team gets relegated
Tom Brady. Candice Ward-USA TODAY Sports

Tom Brady suffered a rare defeat on Saturday as Birmingham City, the English soccer team in which he is a minority investor, was relegated to the third division despite a win on the final day of the season.

Birmingham City defeated Norwich 1-0, but with results elsewhere not going its way, it wound up being relegated from the English Championship. That means it will spend next season playing in League One, the third tier of English soccer.

Brady acknowledged the outcome on X, admitting the club has a “long way to go” but voicing a firm belief that Birmingham City will “achieve great things in the future.”

Brady admittedly did not have much to do with the outcome. He is only a minority investor, and he only purchased his stake in the club last August. Even with Brady serving in an advisory role, there is only so much one can do when the team is effectively already set for the season.

Still, Brady will surely be disappointed with this development. He will hope his NFL investment goes better — assuming it ever gets sorted out, that is.
